The Arlington Central School District's Alexander Juried Art Exhibit, featuring artwork from grades K-12, officially opened at the LaGrange Town Hall on Friday, January 20, 2012. The annual exhibit provides Arlington students the opportunity to professionally showcase their artwork and highlights the value that the arts bring to our community. The artwork will hang in the town hall for the remainder of the school year.
This Annual Juried Exhibit is curated by Arlington's art department, and is a fine representation of Arlington's renowned arts program. The exhibit is named in honor of Yvonne Alexander who began the event in 2002. Mrs. Alexander was an Arlington art teacher from 1988 until 2007.
The LaGrange Town Hall is located at 120 Stringham Road, LaGrangeville.
TWO TEAMS FROM ARLINGTON HIGH SCHOOL EACH EARN $10,000 FOR INNOVATIVE PROJECTS
The "Invasive Annihilators" and "Team S.A.LT.," scientific research teams from Arlington High School, are two of eight high school teams from across the country to earn $10,000 in scholarships and grants in the Lexus Eco Challenge. Maribel Pregnall teaches the scientific research class. The Lexus Eco Challenge is an educational contest that empowers students to learn about the environment and take action to improve it. These teams are now qualified to participate in the Final Challenge for a chance at the $30,000 grand prizes. The Final Challenge will take place January – February with winners announced in March. Both teams were recognized by Dr. Licopoli, Board President Kelly Lappan, and the Board of Education on January 10.
