Professional Development Research Committee
Purpose of the committee:
To design and implement a research study which would evaluate the professional development in the Arlington Central School District. The committee will work together to develop recommendations related to the future direction of professional development in Arlington.
The study will include a(n):
- Examination of current (and past) professional development content, process, and format offered to teachers, staff, and administrators in the Arlington Central School District.
- Including in-district opportunities, consultants, BOCES, Mid Hudson RIC, Teacher Center, graduate courses, and others.
- Review of current research related to effective professional development
- Including research-based best practices and effective models
- Needs assessment (based on student achievement data and teacher/administrator input) leading to a determination of content areas in which to focus
- Establishment of professional development goals
- Evaluation cycle
- Sharing of the plan and a report to the Assistant Superintendents, Superintendent, Board of Education and the community
