Computerized Cash Register System

asm elementary 071.jpg

We are pleased to explain to you our computerized cash register system in the cafeteria.  Each student has an account that is accessed by a confidential PIN number. This account makes it very handy to pre-pay for meals and snacks.  We would like to encourage you to put money into your child’s account.  The accounting system will also serve those students eligible for free and reduced price meals.

The system works as follows: Each student has an account set up to pay for purchases of complete lunches and breakfasts, as well as a la carte items.  If a student is entitled to a free or reduced price lunch, money may be deposited to purchase a la carte items or the reduced lunch for $.25.

Students are issued their PIN number upon registering in the district; they are encouraged to memorize it and keep it confidential.  We discourage sharing PIN #’s with friends.  The system will maintain a complete record of every transaction, which makes it possible to track any misuse of a PIN number.

Students keep the same PIN number from year to year.  You may add money to your student’s account through your MyNutriKids.com account.  Click here for more information.  You may also send a check or cash with your student to give directly to the cashier in the cafeteria.  Checks should be made payable to “Arlington School Lunch Fund.”  Please write your child’s first and last name, PIN number, and grade on the check so we will be sure that it gets credited to the correct account.

When students have money in their account, the lines move much faster as the cashier does not have to stop and make change.  Money left in the account at the end of the year will be available for meals and snacks the following school year.

Please note that this is not a “charge card”.When accounts run low, the cashier will remind the child.  Parents can also receive an e-mail alert by signing up for Low Balance Notification through MyNutriKids.com.  When students do not have any lunch money they are provided with a peanut butter sandwich or cheese sandwich and juice, and reminded to bring in lunch money the next day.
