Dear Arlington Staff, Parents and Students:
The above words, spoken by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. more than thirty years ago from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial still have so much meaning for us today. Dr. King was a true American hero whose legacy is a model for peace and justice everywhere. I am pleased to invite you to attend the Arlington Central School District's First Annual Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Wednesday, January 12 (snow date January 13) from 7:00 to 8:30pm in the auditorium of Arlington High School. Our school district will celebrate Dr. King's life and message with an evening of musical programs and readings performed by students and staff from schools throughout the district. Please join us for refreshments immediately following the program.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a vital figure of the modern era. His speeches renewed the conscience of a generation. The movements and marches he led brought about significant changes in our nation's laws and way of life. Dr. King's courageous and charismatic leadership inspired men and women, young and old, in this nation and around the world. I warmly encourage you to join us in our tribute to this great man of vision and peace on Wednesday, January 12 at 7:00pm at the high school.
