Frequently asked questions
How can I contact you?
I can be reached by telephone here at Titusville (486-4470) before school from 7:15-8:30, and again after school from 3:20-4:00. If I am not available, you can leave a message for me. My extension is 70215. In addition, please feel free to write a note to me in your child's planner or email me at: email@example.com. I check my email first thing in the morning when I get to work, and most often during my lunch and prep time.
Is it possible to obtain homework/classwork assignments for my child when they are sick?
I encourage parents to contact me if their child will be out for a few days due to illness. Please call the office early to let me
know that you would like your child's work. At your request, I will either bring it to the office for your pick-up, or send it home with a sibling or friend.
Are birthday treats allowed?
Absolutely! Please keep in mind that we do have students with nut allergies so items with nuts in them should be avoided. Single serving treats work really well. Please avoid entire cakes. Should you send in items such as cupcakes or brownies, napkins would also be helpful. Most parents like to
drop off treats first thing in the morning. Usually we share and celebrate in the afternoon.
When do individual and group lessons for band and orchestra begin?
Individual lessons begin the second week of school. Instruments are not needed for the first lesson. Information and schedules will be given
to students at that time. Group sessions for fourth graders begin in January. At that time, students will have both a full group band or
orchestra session during their recess time in addition to their individual lesson.
What are the required state tests for fourth grade and when are they administered?
English Language Arts- April
Science- late May/early June
Please check the Titusville calendar for more specific information regarding these tests.
How will I know if my child has an upcoming classroom test?
Spelling tests are given weekly on Fridays. Content area tests are given periodically as units are completed. Study guides for science and social studies will always be sent home in advance. Typically, I give at least one full week for students to prepare for an upcoming test, but most times students will be given 1 1/2 - 2 weeks to study before an assessment. Test days will be written in planners.
