Degrees and Certifications:
This is my first full year at Arlington, having first taught Global Studies here as a leave replacement. I grew up just north in Columbia County and attended SUNY Binghamton and NYU, before getting my Masters in Teaching at Bard College. Teaching came to me late, after I had worked in book publishing as an editor and writer. I love soccer and basketball, and coaching my two teenagers. I’m a first-generation American, with a father from Aberdeen, Scotland, and a mother from the Netherlands, and I’ve lived and spent time in both countries—part of the reason I love world history! My belief is that knowledge of history, geography, and the social sciences makes the world a more interesting place and helps give perspective on current events.
