On reading and writing:
When we read literature, we learn to understand how and why people act the way they do, about ourselves, about the world through stories of others, and to empathize. We often make decisions about our own actions based on the new knowledge we gain when we read. Writing improves communication skills, creative thinking, and creativity. It helps the writer express ideas, beliefs, and personality. Writing helps the writer learn more about himself and others.
Better readers make better writers; better writers make better readers.
