Arlington High School athletes, along with AHS teacher Mrs. Napora, joined student-athletes, coaches, and administrators from 28 Section One schools on April 20 at Mount Saint Mary College for the second annual Student-Athlete Leadership Summit.

The summit focused on growing student voice and leadership in athletics and was presented in partnership by Sections One and Nine, the Mid-Hudson School Study Council, and Mount Saint Mary College, bringing together approximately 160 participants from across the Hudson Valley.

Congratulations to Arlington HS athletes Courtney Foltz and Braden Cassidy, award winners in the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) Section 1 and NYS student essay contests. Both athletes will receive scholarships from the Section 1 and NYSAAA contests and are now in the running for the national award.

The awards are based on students' essays on "How high school athletics has impacted my life," as well as academic standing, service, leadership and athletics.

Arlington High School has received the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) 2024-2025 Sportsmanship Promotion Banner Award! According to NYPHSAA the award is presented "to schools that have developed proactive approaches in keeping sportsmanship in the forefront with their students, coaches, spectators and communities."

"We are honored to accept the NYSPHSAA Sportsmanship promotion award,” said Arlington Athletic Director Michael Cring. “In education-based athletics, sportsmanship and character are areas our coaching staff works to foster in our athletes as we try to develop individuals that will be positive leaders in their community."
