Best Communities for Music Education, Brought to you by The NAMM Foundattion

The Arlington Central School District has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) Award from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding support and commitment to music education. Now in its 27th year, the program recognizes school districts across the United States for ensuring equitable access to music learning as part of a well-rounded education.

In 2026, more than 1,000 districts and schools nationwide were recognized for outstanding achievement in providing access to high-quality music education.

“Music has been a vital part of the Arlington Central School District community for more than 55 years. What matters most is that every student has points of access to music throughout their K–12 experience," said Kristina Rizzo, K–8 Music Coordinator, and Richard Guillen, 9–12 Music Coordinator. "Sustaining this level of recognition over 15 consecutive years reflects a system that prioritizes participation, instructional time, and program stability. We are grateful for the continued support from our community, Board of Education, and district administration that makes that possible,” they added.

Arlington’s recognition marks its 15th consecutive year receiving this distinction. New York State leads the nation with 231 districts recognized, and within the New York State School Music Association Zone 10 (Dutchess, Putnam, and Columbia counties), 14 districts earned this distinction in 2026.

Recipients were selected through a comprehensive application process evaluating funding, instructional time, participation, facilities, and community support. All applications were independently reviewed and verified by WolfBrown.

The Arlington Central School District serves students in grades K–12 and offers a comprehensive music program including general music, instrumental and vocal instruction, and a wide range of performing ensembles.
