Mr. Frank Camiola
Welcome to the Mr Cam Orchestra information page. Here is a little info about myself, as well as some pertinent information regarding the orchestra program that I teach.
I grew up in Fairport, NY, which is a suburb of Rochester, NY. After graduating from Fairport High School in 1990, I attended The Crane School of Music (Potsdam, NY) and The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (Birmingham City University, England) from 1990 - 1994, earning a Bachelor's of Music Education. From 1994 - 1996, I attended The University of Northern Colorado (Greely, CO), earning a Master's of Music Education.
I am currently in my 28th year of teaching orchestra/strings! I started teaching in the Longwood Central School District (Suffolk County, Long Island) in 1996, having taught elementary strings and middle school strings for 8 years until spring 2004. In the fall of 2004, I started teaching elementary strings in the Arlington CSD and have remained in this amazing district since that time. I have taught 4th and 5th grade strings in both Arthur S. May and Titusville Schools exclusively, and the '22-'23 school year is my 19th year in these two exceptional schools. Although I teach and play the violin, viola, and cello, the string bass is my main instrument of study.
I have learned a great deal in this time and continue to evolve each and every year. The one consistent factor has always been an extreme passion for music, as well as the pleasure of sharing this passion, knowledge, and experience with children. Being an instrumental music teacher is always exciting, rewarding, challenging, and quite varied each and every year. I absolutely love working with children, and watching them grow as both musicians and people gives me an immense amount of joy!
Outside of school, I am an avid music listener with a fairly large music collection consisting of instruments, CDs, and LPs. I also enjoy documentaries, cooking, reading, online music forums, European travel, English football (soccer), and pizza! My wonderful family consists of my amazing wife Jen (an RN at Garnet Health Medical Center), my daughter Sophie (a senior in high school), and my son Lucas (a sophomore in high school). We live in New Paltz, NY.
I really look forward to working with your child! Music is best experienced together with others, and my goal is to share this special experience in the most positive, fun, and rewarding way possible. If you have any questions at any time, please feel free to reach me at fcamiola@acsdny.org.
Best,
Mr Cam
