Hello and welcome to the world of Third Grade!

I am Mrs. Brand. I am blessed to have a wonderful, hardworking husband and an incrediby loving two-year-old son named Owen, who loves to explore, talk, learn, and play! Our Rottweiler puppy Remy keeps us active...and on our toes! We currently live in the city of Poughkeepsie, and hope to move into the Arlington district soon, to continue growing our family.

I attended Marist College (go Red Foxes!) and received both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees there.  Fun fact: I am also an adjunct professor there!

I have been teaching at West Road since 2015, and have experience in both special and general education. I also serve students who are in the ENL population, which I greatly enjoy. I am passionate about building relationships with each student, encouraging curiosity, and helping to create lifelong learners. 

Facilitating meaningful discussions and promoting critical thinking, as well as engaging students in various types of learning activities are primary components of my practice. My philosophy is that students who feel connected to their teachers, peers, and school community will have a stronger chance at academic success.
