Licensed Master Social Worker

Mrs. Bagnarol

Hello! My name is Laura Bagnarol and I am the Social Worker here at Overlook Primary School on Days 2, 3, 4, and 5. I got my start in social work in 1998, working with victims of crime and survivors of trauma. It is because of this past work that I am so passionate about creating a culture in which kids can lead safe, healthy, impactful lives. In 2008, I left my career to start a family and also taught part-time in the social work department at The College of New Rochelle. In 2013, I started my own business that involves providing youth enrichment programs to kids and teens throughout the Hudson Valley. This past spring, I worked as a leave replacement Social Worker in a local school district and it was that incredible experience that led me here to Arlington!

Every day presents students with the opportunity to not only learn in the classroom, but to also learn about themselves. Your kids will get to know me as the "Feelings Teacher" or "Helping Person." In a nutshell, I help kids learn how to help themselves. More specifically, I assist children in learning how to identify their feelings and to develop coping strategies for when those feelings become "too big" or overwhelming. I am also here to teach kids about their many strengths as well as things like empathy, kindness, inclusion, resiliency, and problem-solving. I strongly believe that instilling a love of learning in children should start at an early age and will help them to thrive not only in the classroom but in life.

I am here for you, the parent or guardian, as well. I am often the link between families and outside community resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need assistance with finding a resource or specific information on a topic.

Fun Facts:  I am the proud product of Italian immigrants, one of six children and all about food and family! My husband and I live in East Fishkill and are kept very busy by our 13-year-old daughter, 11-year-old son, and 9-year-old daughter. In my spare time, I enjoy writing, reading and love a good workout. I also run a flag football empowerment program for girls, ages 3-11!

I am so excited to be working in this district and am very much looking forward to getting to know you and your children!
