Mrs. Donegan

There was no doubt in my mind I wanted a career helping others. As an Arlington student I was inspired by my teachers. I was most interested in teaching students with special needs. I graduated from Marist College summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in psychology/special education and NYS certification to teach general education (N-6) and special education (K-12). I went on to earn a master's degree in literacy from Fordham University and NYS reading certification (Birth-6). It was a dream come true when Arlington welcomed me back as a teacher.
I have proudly served Arlington as an elementary special education teacher since 2001. For most of my career I had the opportunity to teach in inclusive settings at multiple grade levels. Not only did I gain experience teaching learners with many different needs, I also had the experience of co-teaching with many incredible teachers. When Arlington added a new district special class in 2015 I jumped on the challenge to open it. I love every minute helping the students in my class achieve and love learning. I look forward to going to school each day. Teaching is my passion! I have lived the Arlington mission of empowering all students to be self-directed, lifelong learners who willingly contribute to their community, and lead passionate, purposeful lives. I want the same for my students.

At home I enjoy spending time with my husband John and our two children Alicenne and Kennen. We also share our home with some exotic pets...an African grey parrot (Daisy), blue fronted amazon parrot (Sweetie), many fish, and during the summer many monarch butterflies we raise from eggs to release to the wild.
