I'm thrilled to start my 6th year as the Librarian at Arthur S. May. I L-O-V-E being a Gator!

    Where have you taught?

I taught 4th grade at Beekman Elementary School for fifteen years before deciding to become a librarian.

Where did you go to school?

I received my B.A. at Bard College in Cultural Anthropology. I then received my M.A.T. at Teachers College, Columbia University. I’m currently enrolled in the  School Librarianship program at the University at Buffalo. I see myself as a lifelong learner.

    Why the Library?

First and foremost, I believe librarians help guide students on their journey of developing lifelong reading identities. We constantly model a love of reading, storytelling, being curious and seeing books as mirrors, windows and doors to change and growth. The library is a place to learn how to conduct research, using multiple print and technological sources, with a critical awareness to bias and credibility. It is a place to construct knowledge, communicate learning, and become responsible digital citizens. It’s also a place to get lost in a good book, laugh and feel at home.

What do you do in your free time?

When I’m not reading, you may find me walking our golden retriever, Rosie. You could also spot me teaching my 16 year old daughter to drive 😳, visiting an art museum with my husband Chris or talking books and life with my friends. I also love to grow zinnias from seed, watch movies, visit the beach and contemplate the mysteries of life. I hope to someday skydive or take flight in a hot air balloon.
