Participation in Special Activities & Behavioral Expectations of Students at LMS: As part of our continued efforts to foster a positive and safe school environment, we have implemented a school policy regarding student participation in special activities. This protocol, effective immediately, outlines clear expectations for student behavior and the consequences associated with any infractions. This policy is designed to ensure that students understand the importance of maintaining appropriate behavior and that there are tangible consequences for actions that disrupt the safety of our school environment. Please communicate the following with your children: Any student receiving disciplinary referrals will be subject to restrictions on special activity participation such as clubs, sports, field trips, dances, etc., in addition to any applicable/appropriate disciplinary consequences.
School Field Trips Restriction: Students receiving behavioral referrals will be prohibited from attending school field trips due to safety concerns.
Your Child's Attendance: Any parent/guardian that needs to report a lateness, early dismissal, or absence for their child, must submit the following form found on our website: Report Your Child's Attendance - Submit Form. Any additional questions regarding attendance can be answered by our attendance office by calling 845-486-4880 and dialing extension 22119, or emailing lmsattendance@acsdny.org.
Authorized Student Sign-Out by a Designated & Authorized Adult: Students can only be picked up by an authorized adult listed in their SchoolTool account as previously designated and authorized by their legal parent(s)/guardian(s). Any designated and authorized adult picking up a child from school, including parent(s)/guardian(s), is required to show a legal form of ID upon entering the school lobby to sign-out the designated child from school.
Arlington CSD Code of Conduct - School Safety Reminder: Please remind your children that any discussion, use, or bringing of a weapon (actual or imitation) in school is strictly prohibited and will be processed through the fullest extent of our Arlington CSD Code of Conduct and applicable law enforcement personnel. We do not negotiate on matters of school safety. The safety and well-being of all students is our utmost priority at LMS.
Dress Code: Reminder from the ACSD Code of Conduct: (X. Student Dress Code): The responsibility for student dress and general appearance rests with individual students and parents. However, the Board of Education requires students to attend school in appropriate dress that meets health and safety standards and does not interfere with the learning process. Underwear and undergarments will be covered with outer clothing that is not see through. LMS Note: Due to safety concerns students may not wear blankets in the hallways, classrooms, buses, or anywhere on school grounds.
Directives for Students Staying After School & Behavioral Expectations: Some students are staying late at times to attend a late game at LMS or for another unauthorized reason. Students are not permitted to stay after school unsupervised for any reason. Students may only stay for official after school activities as authorized by an LMS faculty or staff member.
-
Once after school activities conclude for the day, students are expected to take the late 3:15 bus home, or be picked up by no later than 3:15.
-
Students who participate in sports are expected to take the sports buses at 4:15 or be picked up no later than 4:15.
-
Students who are found in violation of this school policy will be subject to disciplinary consequences.
LMS Student Handbook: The LMS Student Handbook is finalized and can be shared with students via the school website under the Students tab.
Student Arrival Procedures: Students are required to be in the building by 7:20 a.m. and in their homeroom class no later than 7:30 a.m. Students who are dropped off by car may enter the building at 7:00 a.m. Students arriving by car prior to 7:20 a.m. must report directly to the cafeteria until 7:20 a.m.
Picking up Your Child from School: Parents/Guardians that plan to pick up their child from school early on any given day may do so by going to the front entrance of the school no later than 1:45 p.m. Any pick up taking place after 1:45 p.m. should be done so via the pick-up/drop-off circle and not the school’s main entrance because we need the space available for our school buses after 1:45 p.m. Please reach out with any questions.
LMS Breakfast Procedures & Expectations: When students arrive at school they can go to the cafeteria and pick up breakfast. The breakfast time ends at 7:25 a.m. and students then have 3 minutes of transition time to get from the cafeteria to homeroom. Students may bring food to their period 1 class (homeroom). ALL students must be in their period 1 class no later than 7:30 a.m., which is the start of homeroom.
Important Notice Regarding Food Sharing Policy:
- To ensure the health and safety of all our students, we must emphasize that the sharing, buying, or selling of any food items between students is strictly prohibited while on school premises, including school buses and all areas of the school grounds. Food items include, but are not limited to, beverages, candy, snacks, and similar products. This policy is in place to prevent cross-contamination and to protect students with food allergies or sensitivities who may be unaware of the ingredients in shared items and to protect students from ingesting potentially dangerous items.
- Any student found violating this policy will be subject to disciplinary consequences, as safeguarding the well-being of our community is our top priority.
- We understand that some students may require additional food items. If you or your child need assistance, please reach out to our school, and we will do our best to try and ensure that the necessary support is provided to your child.
- Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to maintaining a safe environment for all.
