Seal of Civic Readiness: Extra-Curricular Program and Work-Based Experience Credit

  • Students that have participated in extra-curricular programs or work-based experiences that promote civic actions, skills, and mindsets can use their experiences to earn credit towards the Seal of Civic Readiness. Upon successful completion of a total of 40 hours of participation, students can make a copies of the Seal of Civic Readiness Extra-Curricular Program and Work Based Experience Log as well as the Seal of Civic Readiness Extra-Curricular Program and Work Based Experience Student Review and Reflection. Students should complete both based on their experiences, then submit using the Seal of Civic Readiness Extra-Curricular Program and Work-Based Experience Submission Form. Students will need proof of over 40 hours of participation and can use experiences as far back as September of their freshman year. Please see the log sheet for further requirements.

    Students can use the instructions on the sheets as well as the rubric provided to make sure they have completed the Seal of Civic Readiness Extra-Curricular Program and Work Based Experience sheets correctly. If students do not complete the assignment correctly, they will receive the assignment back with the rubric and comments as to what they can improve upon. Students can then resubmit for credit one more time. If a student is found plagiarizing their work in any way will not receive the Seal of Civic Readiness credit and will lose the chance to resubmit their work.

    Students can earn .5 points toward the Seal of Civic Readiness from the "Criteria for Demonstrating Civic Participation" column when tracking Seal of Civic Readiness points. Students can earn the Extra-Curricular Program and Work-Based Experience .5 points more than once.
