What Does ASOA Do?
Arlington Symphony Orchestra Association (ASOA) is a not-for-profit parent group that works closely with the orchestra directors to provide enriching opportunities to all orchestra students, including;
Purchasing instruments
Helping to subsidize trips for concerts and competitions
Underwriting guest conductors and masterclasses with professional musicians
Commissioning original pieces of music for students to perform
Funding college scholarships
Organizing concerts such as Bone-Anza, POPS, and Philharmonia Concerto
Fundraising through spiritwear sales, ticket sales, raffles, and solicitation of business and personal ad
How can I be a part of ASOA if my time is limited?
You decide! There are tasks, big and small, that fit YOUR schedule.
Whether you work full-time or have a flexible schedule, no effort is too small to make a difference.
Usher at a concert, donate reception refreshments, set-up/clean-up for special events, fundraise, chaperone a trip, gather program ads, give an hour or lead a committee, your time is valuable and appreciated.
What does volunteering for ASOA look like?
Usher at a Concert - Stand at the auditorium doors before a concert, welcoming concert goers and handing out programs. Help people to their seats if needed.
Ticket Sales - Check off those who purchased tickets online or sell tickets at the door prior to concerts that require them such as Bone-Anza and POPS.
Set-up/Clean-up for Special Events - Arrive early to help set up tables, decorate, or fold programs. Or if it works better you can stay late to help clean-up afterwards.
Spiritwear - Help our spiritwear chair set-up and sell merchandise before, during, and after concerts or other special events. Then help them clean up afterwards.
Donate Reception Refreshments - Sign up to donate water, fruit, cheese and crackers, cookies, brownies, paper goods, or anything else that is requested.
Reach out to Local Businesses to Place Ads in Programs - Choose businesses from a provided list or reach out to others you know to ask if they will place an ad in our POPS Concert Program.
Chaperone a Trip - Join our students and directors as they travel to perform at competitions or festivals.
Chair a Committee or Event - Be in charge of a committee that is part of a bigger event such as flowers, reception, spiritwear, ticket sales, or the program. If you have more time, take on the overall planning of an entire event like our Bone-Anza, POPS, or Concerto Concerts.
Join our ASOA Board - Volunteer to be president, vice president, secretary, assistant treasurer, or treasurer.
